I have the mkII version of these, excellent speakers. Quite easy to upgrade too! I swapped the drivers with the other HIVI (same company as swan) drivers. They look and sound far better. By far the best 60 dollar upgrade I have ever done.

would I be able to swap out different tweeters for my d1080 IV's? The wood looking housing not the black ones? The tweeters currently are lacking and have quite a bit of sibilance.

Just wondering what driver models did you use to replace the stock ones?

Google is leading me to this as your speaker, but as you mentioned yours is wood and not the black ones? If it is the speakers in the speakers, I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction but from what I can see, you would first have to remove the plastic front piece to get access to the tweeter, from there if you can post a picture of the tweeter I can possibly point you to an upgraded swan tweeter, technically though any tweeter can be used, albeit a bit of DIY! Let me know how it goes.
BTW I'm thinking the front plate is glued on so a bit of heat and a tool to wedge the front piece off will be necessary, not sure if it's worth all your trouble. Good luck if you perform the surgery!

I bought the HiVi 5" M5N that you see on parts-express.com for $21.73US each (OOS till late november though)... So I lied, the best ~$45 spent. TBH though I bought it half for the looks, since it also matches exactly with the knobs... I also bought it along with a Dayton 8" sub for really cheap (~$90USD) and good reviews around the web. It also allowed me to get free shipping. This makes for a pretty decent 2.1 system, with my only regret wishing I bought the 10" sub instead just to extend a bit lower. Keep in mind though that I have the MKII and not the MKIII as listed here. I think the drivers are the same between the models but with far better amplification on the MKIII.
Let me know how it goes and good luck!

Thanks for the info! How does the M5N compare with the stock S5Ns?

It seems like that model has some kind of outer ring around the driver, see if that can come off, looks like it might need heating.

Will I know what tweeters I can put in it once I take it off? Also i was looking for some rear surround speakers that would compliment the swans and a Dayton sub 1200. Any reccomendations?

Probably yes, I dont want to make any promises, but it seems like swan/hivi has only a few options for dome tweeters, what is nice though is even if you dont have an exact fit, since there's a cover over it you can maybe modify any tweeter to fit and cover your "shoddy" cutting and fitting with the cover.
As for rears not exactly sure of any good ones that will compliment it exactly... Personally I wouldn't add any more speakers, not worth the money. If you are truly adventurous make your own with swan drivers!

will do thank you for the advice sorry for late reply. Massdrop finally added in a notifications function on the website and I saw your reply. I will probably eventually upgrade the front speakers to home built and move the d1080's to the back as surrounds.
