Received mine today. I'm not ready to leave a negative review, but I am disappointed. I've owned 5-6 Tactile Turn pens and currently have 2 in my rotation. This is the first one that's disappointing. Unfortunately, the issue is with the clip. One of the screws was not screwed in when it arrived, but fortunately I have the right tool. However, when screwing it in, the clip just won't get flush with the pen body. There's a noticeable gap between the pen and part of the clip that connects to the pen. This also means that the clip is "crooked," bent up away from the pen body at the other end so there's no tension to clip to anything.
Everything else seems good. The mechanism is smooth, and there's little to no tip wiggle. Hopefully, I can exchange!
With these being made in the USA will there be NAFTA certificate for us Canadians? Would be nice to skip paying the duty fees. If your goods are marked as made in the United States, Canada or Mexico, and are accompanied by a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) certificate, no duty is payable.
I only own a gist fountain pen in copper (and a rollerball conversion tip as well) and I cannot even begin to describe how high quality these are. The ultra precise machining on the body creates an obscenely satisfying texture to just run your fingers along. His thread engagement is so precise, it never crossthreads (something other metal on metal pens can be very, very prone to)
If I didn't already have my perfect ballpoint (a one-off prototype solid brass fisher AG-11 space pen that they never put into production) I would own one of these in a heartbeat. I love the side click mechanism so much.
I don't have any recent pictures (it's got more patina now) but here's how it looked just as I got it from Fisher. It was rolling around in their office for like 10 or 20 years. A one-off prototype that never went into production. I asked, and they have no plans to release an AG-7 in raw brass (which is kind of annoying, as fun as it is having a one-of-a-kind pen, the body is already made from brass, so it'd literally be just taking two pieces out of the line before they go into the chrome bath instead of after. They do it with other models like the bullet and cap-o-matic, and they know about brass' antimicrobial properties. Seems like it would have been a pandemic slam-dunk.)
I was also wrong in calling it an AG11 - it's an AG7SH. Same thing, the AG11 was just a different "limited edition" engraved model. Just a regular AG7 with a space shuttle on the clip.
HoneybadgersNice! Thanks for sharin'! It does seem like a slam dunk idea to have an astronaut pen like this in raw brass with its antimicrobial properties. Cool to see! Hope you and yours are all doin' well, and have a Merry Christmas!
Or just work really, really hard to learn to keep track of the things you carry. I used to lose pens constantly, but once I started getting nice ones, I just stopped losing them kinda overnight.
I've had to backtrack to a hospital once before when a nurse tried to steal my Fisher AG-7. But that was it in the ten years I've had using way-too-nice pens in EMS.
HoneybadgersI used to deliver pizza and customers would steal my pens all day I've went back to my car realize my pen is missing and knock on there door say you got my pen 100% they look for it find it and say sorry my response "its the lowest level of theft possible taking someone's dollar pen! They laugh and remember it!
