We heard your complaints about the stickiness of Tai-Hao’s doubleshot PBT keycaps, so we took your feedback and acted on it. Now, we’re happy to introduce the same doubleshot PBT keycaps, this time in new colors with a considerably thinner layer of scratch-resistant coating Read More
Baker: "Hello everyone! We have some wonderful chocolate chip cookies at a great price."
Everyone: " Yay!... Wait, these cookies have frosting. We don't like frosting on our chocolate chip cookies. "
Baker: "This is special frosting just for chocolate chip cookies. You'll like it."
Everyone: "We hate the frosting, but the cookies are good. Can we get the cookies without frosting please?"
Baker: "We've listened to your feedback and we're excited to let you try our new and improved chocolate chip cookies. The ones that you asked for."
Everyone: "Yay!... Wait, there's still frosting on the cookies."
Baker: "Yeah, but it's REALLY thin frosting. You'll barely taste it."
Everyone: " WTF! Are you serious?"
I want to buy a set everytime I see these, but the coating is a huge turn off, thin coating or thick. I still might give it a whirl, but as literally EVERYONE is voicing, we want to buy this product without the coating. Pretty please.
KamakaAwesome analogy. Awesome. Wtf antibiosis layer? Are keyboards known for spreading bacterial infections? I could see this being a thing in hospitals, but not a massdrop thing, ffs.
KamakaBeen looking everywhere for dark, Doubleshot, PBT keycaps. I was so excited when WASD had some but they had an absolutely awful UV? coating. Now instead of UV coating, it's antigerm coating wtf. Why can't they just mass produce good keycaps like they mass produce everything else WTF
Is Tai-Hao getting some sort of kick-back from an antibiosis coating company? Is there some silent contingent of keyboard enthusiasts dying from infections from their keyboards? No, you didn't "hear" the community if you're still using it at all. Get rid of it, completely, then come back and try again.
Ahh, OK - sorry, I read that as heavy sarcasm (glad you recognized that I misinterpreted!) It is a fair point though - we don't know how their manufacturing works, but I would suppose (and hope) that skipping a step would not be impossible.
rampantandroidDefinitely not impossible, as the Originative Carbon Black PBT set (that was also on Massdrop a while back) was made by Tai Hao and didn't come with antibiosis coating at all.
Dammit, love the colour scheme, but also turned off by the coating. I'm new to Massdrop too so maybe I'm doing it wrong - but the description of the colours needs some images for reference that are titled. I'd hate to order and find I got the wrong colours - the example images could simply have the colour scheme written on there for easy reference.
Thanks for clarifying. Looking at the pictures/descriptions it seems the use of slate and cement are mixed up, can we please get that fixed? I'm not entirely sure of what I'm buying right now, I'd like to confirm if at least the pictures in checkout are matching what we'll be sent.
How disappointing, I was in when I thought they were white and I was confused why I couldn't find the option in the join page. Oh well, the coating was putting me off anyway.
It has been 10 days since I last heard my shipment has been delayed. No update since. Massdrop, can you please fill us in? Kinda ridiculous that other buyers got their sets weeks in advance, yet here we are.
eb777Same here. First thing I have bought from massdrop and living in the UK I'm kind of dubious at this point as to whether they are actually going to arrive
eb777My thing is that any other delay I've been made aware of has had a legitimate (and completely unavoidable had enough planning gone in, but still legit enough) reason as to why. So why have we only been told there's a delay with no reason? My last 4 orders from Massdrop have all experienced delays and I'm at the point now where I don't think I'll trust shopping from Massdrop anymore if deadlines can't be met.
I always want to have the double shot PBT keycaps from Tai-Hao. The nano antibios coating turned me away every time. Until the coating is totally removed, I will hold tight of my wallet. Why Tai-Hao is so stubborn or stupid is beyond my understanding.
Baloogayeah that is one of the reasons but few other why it is bad idea. For a start stuff like Serratia could quite easily end up on hands and occassionally causes problems BUT a lot pass on resistance through plasmid not nuclear dna so it can be shared with other species not just strains of same species so could pass on resistance to something much much worse. Also as well as environmental effects and bioaccumulation in humans (direct or indirect through food chain links etc) there is the fact it leads to less minor immune stimulation, opens up niche for stuff that normally cannot compete as mentioned already. There are more reasons but I'll stop before rant too much. There are zero studies on the safety of it and makers prob don't even know what is in it and legislation on such things in China is sketchy and there has been soooo many incidents recently never mind the milk spiking ages ago ref'd in the comments.
TL DR they shouldn't put this stuff on for the intended market never mind niche Western markets. Educating people on washing their hands and good hygenie would be more effective.
