On my first time out using this lens for a family wedding I am very impressed! I love being able to take all sorts of pictures from portraits to non-posed secretive shots across a crowded room. This lens lets me do it all. Granted I don't get the super fuzzy bokeh of a 2.0 aperture zoom lens for some portraits, but then I don't have the money for that either. This lens did an absolute phenomenal job. Now for my complaint ........ the sun shade was very loose right out of the box and never fit at all. After the wedding I went to Chincoteague Island Va. to take some pictures at the beach and of the wild ponies and guess what ..... the sun shade fell off somewhere along the way never to be found again. I may look for a replacement on Amazon.

Terrific all round lens
This lens so far has exceeded my expectations. Very solidly constructed, image quality is excellent, and very versatile. It is bigger than I thought it would be, this however is outweighed by what you can do with it on your camera. Perfect as a one lens for travel.

For what it is, I'm pretty impressed with this lens. Image quality is better than I expected, zoom is super long, and the image stabilization is pretty freaking good. Now, the bad. Auto focus isn't superb. Focusing is really slow, and it has a tendency to hunt a little bit. But, manual focusing is pretty easy, and the barrel has enough friction to hold where it's at, so it isn't actively fighting you. This picture of the moon is straight out of the camera and was hand held at 400mm. It's not a perfect lens, but it does everything that I wanted it for.
