Why not just get something like this:

Then throw an inexpensive MicroSD card in it. Then when the MicroSD dies (all flash based storage dies eventually) it's an inexpensive replacement while still using the custom adapter rather than a $135 mistake.
Hmmm. I guess since it is made for apple product, the company thinks they can charge apple price. It is just SD card cutoff to fit flushly to the device.
Other than the form factor of the device, is there something special/different from other SDXC memories? The mapping into the file system seems to be pretty standard, albeit automagical. The aluminum cases are nice.
oldgearheadNope, I'm pretty sure it's literally just cut down and aluminium.
And considering the chip inside SD cards don't usually take up the whole case, you could modify your own to fit flush without paying this much.
BenjalsThe nifty minidrive page has photos of their products. They show the various carriers (gotta love apple and their proprietary &*^$) in relation to the standard micro SD cards. Yep, just cut down carriers with a fancy bezel to match the lappy.
