Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

However, there's something that just kept nagging me. I can't seem to play any music through it without hearing clicks every few seconds. It sounded to me like either the buffer in the unit overruned or underruned, resulting in an audible click every time it happens.
I've tried a lot of different songs to make sure it is not in the recording, including some very good recordings, all of them exhibits the same clicking problem. I've also backed up my Windows 7 setup and then wiped it for a fresh installation (with all updates), and it is still there.
My current setup: Computer: Lenovo Thinkpad W520 (Renesas/NEC USB 2.0 & USB 3.0) Cable: My own and included USB cable with UH-7000 (tried both) Software: Foobar2000, tested on ASIO/DS/WASAPI, nothing helped. Interface Setup: Stereo Mix Mixer setup: Analog 1-2 Linked & Muted , Digital 1-2 Linked & Muted, Computer 1-2 Linked Effect setup: None UH-7000 Firmware 1.07, Driver 1.01 Headphone: AKG K7XX
Anyone experiencing the same problem? I'll try older driver and firmware to see if there's a similar problem still.
