You know, this product confuses me no end - it just seems so niche and so counter to today's world of convergence between computer / digital interaction / mobile etc and audio. To explain, from reading Teac's website, this is decked out to be a high end CD player to play both regular ("red book") CDs and also high resolution audio DSD files burned to a CD. There is no USB in, and the digital and coax are outputs not inputs, so you can only play from optical discs. So that right away seems to only cater for people who are into solving yesterday's problem - perhaps looking for a modern, lower cost player for their physical CD collection - but then again, who hasn't copied their CDs to their PC for more convenient storage and rapid search and play, and perhaps even have a DAC for better sound? Perhaps if I didn't have money in the old days to buy a high end CD and was pining for something like that plus the ability to play high res also it might appeal, but then again, who has the time to burn DSD files to a CD? Isn't playing from a computer or a storage drive / network player far more convenient? Also bewildering is the lack of SACD capability- I recently picked up an old SACD/Blu ray player just to tinker with ($15 bucks well spent) and it's true that there's a paucity of SACDs out there. But it does seem to me that if you were going to put out a product like this that appeals to really a nostalgic or past desire (like mine with SACD), but gives the value of the high res / possibly upgraded DAC, why not at least add support for SACD? So on both counts, I find myself, just like Tragique, asking "why?". Now if you had added a USB / coax / optical input for today's world so we could use that DAC to the fullest and a SACD capability for those of us who couldn't afford it last time around and want to tinker, or even went further and added some kind of network broadcast capability, then it'd be something appealing for both today and yesterday. As is, it just appeals to too small a consumer base at a price that isn't trivial. Man it's Thursday morning and I feel like I've just rained on someone's parade. Sorry for that - not intentional ad I know someone very sharp and talented on the Engineering side must have designed and put this together - really just looking to understand the purpose here - perhaps if that was stated in the description on MassDrop, that would be helpful. Just my 2 p Dingo

Richy_DingoI think all your comments are 100% valid, and there is one simple answer to all of them: this product is not "current". It's yesterday's product being offered today through a discount selling channel.
