Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I thought the Fostex might be a good one at $399 MSRP - which a drop could bring to a very affordable level - so I added it to some of the polls here to be voted on. This TEAC however also looks very interesting and might seriously consider it even though the balanced outs are pre-amp. How would these two DAC/Amps compare in features and quality against one another?
Here is a link to the the specs on the product site of the HP-A4BL: http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/products/HP-A4BL.shtml#content-3-tab-tab
Glad you brought up the power difference, I guess it gives a bit of extra room if need be. I noticed in the specs that the UD-301 supports 32-bit quantization via USB, while the Fostex HP-A4BL maxes out at 24-bit. On the other hand, the Fostex supports 11.2MHz DSD while the TEAC goes up to only 5.6MHz. Would any of these be a clear advantage, or are they just specs that have no real world implications/noticeability to the listener?
As of right now I am still debating between these two. The UD-301 looks much more attractive as a unit, but because the Fostex is an all-in-one for headphones I'm leaning towards it slightly more. The smaller size is also an advantage in my case.
Anyways, I would still love to see opinions on quality and use from anyone who has experience with these brands.
