I wish they had a full set for the whole keyboard. These keycaps not only feel great they look even better. If they had a full set it would be an insta byu from me
Andy-StoneThey do, just sold elswhere. Just saw a whole keyboard on another site I was on but I forgot which. I was on a bunch of different sites because I am only looking for specific individual keys and not necessarily sets. These look dope though! Now I am torn lol.
I understand these are for gamers ... I get it. But I want a FULL SET -- I've looked everywhere and I'm pretty sure this is all they make in the steel. I am not a gamer -- these are extremely durable, good looking keys -- but why not create a full set? At least a matching set for the often used keys on the right side of the keyboard?
supercleanseProbably cost prohibitive... Although I too would like a set of these and all the thumbs up probably means many people would too... I definitely think they would need better finishing if that was the case, if people were expected to sand the entire set that would be ridiculous...
These are the best key caps I've owned. I've gone through so many WASD key sets that I can't count. These will never wear out. The only thing that I don't like about these is they don't offer an entire set. ;-) I would buy the entire set in a heart beat!
Weighty looking keys but a few construction annoyances
I was really excited to get these keycaps.. they're good-looking, are a nice weight and the stainless steel look is a nice visual contrast to any keycap set. However upon further use, (I've been using them for a couple months now) I've noticed a few things. The letter forms are cut into the stainless steel and especially noticeable on the "s" is a piece of aluminum or steel that sticks up so the pads of my fingers rub/scratch on it every time I type "s". It is annoying and makes me think quality control was missed on this cap. Secondly, this cap set is meant to be an asymmetrical addition to my existing set and there is no position indicator on the F key. The lack of a position indicator tab on the F cap makes me feel unbalanced while typing because I as a typist I rarely look down at my fingers and my fingers are always searching for "home". If you plan to only use the WASD contrast (which I have had to switch to), this will obviously be a non-issue but it renders that key useless to me and has limited the set's utility to me. If none of those things sound like they may bother you overall, they're still an enjoyable set and I would recommend due to the uniqueness of the look.
ChompitychompchompReally appreciate you pointing out those details. First, I dont want to cut/scratch my fingers on my keyboard while gaming and constantly pressing the "S" button, never mind just typing. Secondly I did not realize there was no indicator on the "F" and I realize that is something easily missed by most, and we dont realize it matters until its gone. Not a huge deal though.
I do have a question , are the WASD caps at least raised/slanted as with most keycaps?
They look great and I assumed will be more durable than just about anything else. However, the edges and corners of my set where rather sharp. The tops also seem more "dished" than most other keycaps that I've used (which I think is good?). However, these 2 things combined with my very wide finger-tips (XXL hands) means that I am always pressing on at least one sharp or pointy surface. I spend about 10min with a sharpening stone flattening and soothing all the top edges and it seemed to help. I think I will do a 2nd pass with some sandpaper over top of an old cloth&neoprene mouse pad to further melt the edges be cause they still annoy my fingertips after a couple hours of typing or gaming.
It seems like this issue could be address during the casting or finishing process when these are being made, but, considering the price and low-effort fix, it doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me, but something to be aware of.
Arrow signs on the caps are a bit sharp due to the nature of the material, but overall very good-looking and sounding keycaps. The added weight of the keycaps makes the switches they're mounted on feel lighter. Currently using them on my mixbox.
instead of the key with the letter D I got a key with the letter Q. Fortunately, DROP employees provided me with a second such set for free. I did not incur any costs and did not have to send back the faulty goods :)
The butt of the keycaps are shaped too tightly for my mx brown switches. Pulled the entire stem off on both of my keyboards. Damaging my keyboard beyond repair. Use at your own risk
