GiantCalGunnerFor this KBG model, there is a little lever under the brew basket that the carafe pushes against to hold the basket open. Take out the carafe to pour a cup, and the lever closes to prevent drips. It's pretty standard to how most drip stops work. The KB and KBT models (not in this drop) have a manual switch on the basket that you use to control the flow (full, half, or off).

em119thank you! Makes sense. I couldn't find a good description of the feature on Technivorm.com or other sites selling the product. Sounds like you cannot use other carafes as a second pot then. Good to know.

GiantCalGunnerA pot of very similar size and shape might work, but hard to say without trying. They do sell replacement pots.
There are quite a few youtube videos showing the features/differences of the various models.

GiantCalGunnerYes. The large black plastic top of the carafe makes contact with a lever that opens/closes the grind container. Upgraded from a Bonavita a couple of months ago and I am happy I did so.

GiantCalGunnerI looked at my machine and it's a CD-Grand. The drip stop function NEVER worked. Perhaps this model remedies the problem.

em119I have had the manual (rather fragile & temperamental) drip stop function on mine. Mine never worked from the first pot out. I've learned to be patient and wait for the whole pot to brew. It is so fast that it's not worth the mess of dealing with the drip stop function.
