Great machine.
I was using a Chemex for a long time but I didn’t want to have to do pour overs all the time. I am very happy with the quality of coffee from my moccamaster.

I’ve tried every brew method I can find - pour over, French press, Aeropress, Percolator, Siphon, Chemex ... you name it. I have however never owned a coffee maker and upon seeing this drop and doing my research I decided this would be the perfect way to cut down on my brew time for the thermos of coffee I make for work every day without sacrificing taste. Well, after some tuning in of my grinder for a nice coarse grind this coffee maker has proved it is up to the task. Let’s be honest, at 68g of coffee per brew it would be very expensive to fill this bad boy with top end beans so I’ve been buying by the 3lb bag of whole organic light roast from Sams club (~$15) and this coffee maker is making one hell of a batch out of it! I put 20oz right in my thermos which will last me all day and the other 20oz in the fridge for the next day. Cuts my brew time in 1/4 because not only is it twice as fast as manual pour over but I get two days worth of coffee! Coming from someone who always believed it was manual brew or bust... this coffee maker will make you a believer! Make sure your getting at least decent beans and grinding fairly coarse and you’ll get a perfect, consistent batch every time! Some quick math for anyone looking at ROI: 3lb ($15) = 1360g, 1360/68 = 20 batches, or 40 days of coffee assuming you drink 20oz / day. That’s $0.38 for coffee per day, or about $11.25 / month. 20oz of coffee from a gas station ~$1.70, or $51 per month! So $39.75 in savings, $220 price / $39.75 = 5.53 months, so if your kicking a coffee buying habit you’ll hit ROI in less than 6 months!

I got mine a few weeks ago and it arrived damaged. It has been such a pain to deal with. There are these little plastic bits that hold the brew basket in place. They arrived broken off so in order to make a cup of coffee, I have to hold the brew basket in place the entire time that it is brewing. I contacted Massdrop, who passed the buck onto Technivorm. Technivorm wouldn't send me a replacement but offered to send me a replacement part which I would have to repair myself and buy tools to make the repair myself. I was super annoyed just by the principle that they sent me this broken ass coffee maker and want me to waste my time and money to fix it. I was able to brew a cup of coffee on this thing and it was awesome. I decided to play ball since I got a good deal and agreed to this ridiculous proposition. I got the part (with no instructions at all) and after much incompetence on Technivorm's part, I get the repair made. Now, I realize that there might be another problem with this thing as it seems like some water stays in the coffee maker after I brew a pot of coffee. So, here I am, dealing with Technivorm again. I really wish I didn't buy this thing and I am going to think twice before getting fragile stuff on Massdrop again. They get one extra star for the good coffee.

I'd wanted a Moccamaster for years, so when I saw one on Massdrop I leaped at it. After I placed my order -- I'm not going to lie -- I was worried I overspent. This thing is really expensive for a drip coffee maker! But once it arrived and I made my first pot, I realized how amazing the Moccamaster really is. I'm not a SUPER huge coffee nerd, but I have a chemex setup, a french press, and (previously) a Zojirushi coffee maker. I have regularly subscribed to Blue Bottle coffee shipments, but I'm also perfectly happy with a cup of Tim Horton's or Dunkin Donuts blends. The Moccamaster makes any coffee I've given it better than ANY other brew method I've tried. It's fast, the setup/cleanup is SUPER easy, and you can tell that everything was crafted with precision and care. I do NOT feel like I overspent on this at all: this coffee maker is worth every penny. The only improvement I can imagine would be if this had been a model with a thermal carafe instead of a glass pot -- but since the Moccamaster keeps the coffee at the perfect temperature without burning it, even that seems unnecessary. I would absolutely recommend this coffee maker to anyone who enjoys a good cup of coffee -- coffee snob or not -- and can afford it. Believe me, you get what you pay for!

A gift for my wife, a self proclaimed coffee addict. She loves how quickly she can have a pot or half a pot ready to drink. And it's always good!

I bought this unit a couple of months ago and it continues to produce great tasting coffee. It’s worth the price, only one more month to go before hitting my ROI (I kicked my Starbucks habit)
