Product Description
The key to making a good cup of coffee is time and temperature. Thanks to extensive research and testing, the folks over at Technivorm have created a device for both Read More
The picture, compared to the Technivorm website (https://technivorm.com/products/glass/), appears to be a Technivorm Moccamaster K not a K741. If you go to the link, you can see for yourself. Or maybe I have the model numbers confused cause the Technivorm website shows the 741 as "KBG 741". Confusing!
Model question: So this description says K741, but the picture is has a "Homeline" logo on it which would make it an H741, right? I think the K741 has an additional switch for the hot plate to make it half hot or full hot. Just wondering.
how does this massdrop work? This is my first purchase. Am I taking a chance on getting a faulty or used product or are all the products brand new and guaranteed? Would love feedback from anyone who has used them a lot. Sounds like they are shipped from outside the U.S.? Why is that?
gkillmasterMass drop is a Class A operation. Nothing is used. As a side note, I own a Technovorum k741 that I've had for several years. These are handmade in the Netherlands with a copper boiler. Coffee is about brew temp and this is one of the few that the temp is certified. Mass drop will take care of anything defectivs

Had mine for 8 years or so, still brews awesome coffee. Having worked as a full time barista I can totally recommend this machine, especially if you are into black coffee.
Always try to use freshly roasted/grinded beans, and you are in for a treat.
I would consider looking at the Behmohr Brazen Plus or the Bonavita BV1900. Both of them are cheaper and make a really good cup of Coffee. Both also use an insulated carafe so it does not need a heating element under the pot. Heating the pot from below creates uneven temperatures and the coffee on the bottom gets bitter (not a huge issue if the pot is consumed quickly).
I personally own a Behmohr Brazen Plus and I love it. The shape is a bit odd because the boiling chamber is directly above the coffee grounds. The water boils and falls straight down onto the grains. The Moccamaster has to pump it up and over to the grounds. Pumps are a possible failure point with coffee makers.
I have heard a lot of good things about the Moccamaster but it's not the only high end coffee maker around.
I bought mine 3 years ago at Williams Sonoma and paid over $300 for it. Absolutely cannot rave enough about it. Works like the day I bought it. Another customer saw me looking at coffee makers and told me I wouldn't regret buying this brand. Boy was she right :)
The only thing you need to do is clean it about once every other month with vinegar OR Cleancaf.
Wondering what the pros here think of why this uses paper filters instead of a nice gold mesh metal filter? Any problems, specifically, with coffee taste as a result of screen filter use vs paper?
schreibI think it uses a paper filter because they're less expensive than a gold filter, and as already mentioned, filter slightly differently. I've used a reusable gold filter in mine for over a year now with no issues.
Received yesterday. Water reservoir is cracked. Have notified company. Hope the exchange is easy.

GregorekI ordered the KBG 741 from amazon when it was on sale. Believe it or not, of all the components in the box, the plastic scoop was the only thing that was smashed. Strangest thing is that it’s packaged inside the water reservoir. I have no idea how it was damaged.
Long story short, it’s possible shipping wasn’t the culprit here for your problem.
