Wondering what the pros here think of why this uses paper filters instead of a nice gold mesh metal filter? Any problems, specifically, with coffee taste as a result of screen filter use vs paper?

schreibI find the gold filter to be a mess to clean up. Getting all the grounds out of it is a pain. With the paper filters you can dump it into the trash or compost bin.

schreibThe gold filters allow for the oils to pass through, this gives a quite different taste to the paper filters, which most relate to typical filter coffee. I would say that the gold filters best compare to a French Press in taste. Personally I prefer paper, I think it gives a more clean cup, but I guess this a matter of personal preference.

schreibI think it uses a paper filter because they're less expensive than a gold filter, and as already mentioned, filter slightly differently. I've used a reusable gold filter in mine for over a year now with no issues.

MMoleNo, cost is not why. It's paper is simply different, not better or worse. It's a matte rof preference. Most prople prefer paper.
