sunsyncI think the essential task will be to send the brewer to the Netherlands, which might be some cost factor, depending on where you live.
However - I don't think it will break during the warranty period (as nearly everything is build to last), exept if you do something very nasty with it. And if you need spare parts after all - you can even get some of them on Amazon. But as the machine is easy to open and does not have electronics or very uncommon parts in it (exept the heating element), you could even get it repaired by a local technican with 3rd party parts.
If you don't forget to decalcify it time by time, it will last for many decades, as the heating element is build from copper, like professional espresso machines, and will not dissolve after some years like the ones build from aluminium alloy. You pay the price here not for the design, but for the sturdy parts.
However - I like the design also... ;)
sunsyncTechnivorm will honor their 5 year warranty on any brewer purchased through Massdrop. As demollator stated, they are built to last, so I would not be overly concerned with any broken parts. They gave me a run through of all of the components at IHA this year and it is a very well thought out design.
