For those of you still wondering whether to buy this synth, stop reading after this statement: do it. For those of you not convinced, the reason I find any opposition to this synth within forums and music communities( and believe me, when I'm about to dish out $700-$800, I research a lot and you would too) is that most of the opposers have either never had one or they tried it for five minutes in the store. This is no "hipster teenager toy". In the time it took me to learn all the aspects of the instrumen(scratch that I'm still learning) your average "hipster" would have already given up. This is an instrument for those who love the old methods of music or are curious about them and want it in a smaller sleeker and more accessible form. I may be a teenager but I've been producing electronic music with hardware for about three years now (soundcloud.com/Chordlessclouds) and it has taken a lot of love of music and effort to learn the integration of the op-1 with Ableton, Maschine, MicroKorg, and now the Oto Biscuit. That may not be a lot but that's because I don't need so much! If you're wondering what negatives there are I won't lie, there's one for me. The battery indicator isn't that reliable, but in the long run... WHO CARES!! I almost don't stop charging it because I'm using it all the time! So there you have it, the only rant I've ever written because I feel so strongly about it...SO strongly that even after I accidentally lost the post I rewrote it.... But in case after allllll that you still don't believe me here's a post about a great musician who put the op-1 among moogs and arps and historical synths. If a professional can't convince you I don't know who can. http://daily.redbullmusicacademy.com/2012/05/jarre-synth

ChordlesscloudsAgreed x 1000. I also want to mention that I had the battery indicator issue too. I contacted TE and it's resolved now. The battery just needs to be conditioned by doing a couple deep cycles. (Meaning do a full charge, and then use it until it dies or 15ish hours) I suggest you just try to hit 15ish hours because typically LI's don't do well going all the way down to zero. Maybe TE could update production to precondition the batteries in the future.
TravisRyanI'm glad I've got another supporter haha, but yeah they told me to try that out so I've done it about twice now. I'm on the same page with not wanting to discharge it fully but I'm hoping that in addition to preconditioning I hope they make replacing batteries a simple process.
