Got mine yesterday. I was really surprised by how light it is. Can't wait to put it in action this weekend.

Recieved mine today. Looks nice and I am excited to use it. Only gripe is that it is advertised as 1.9 oz. However, mine weighs 2.9oz for just the rod (without soft case, tippet or line). Not a deal breaker but was definately a selling point, and a big reason why I purchased this rod. I know many may scoff at an extra ounce. But why advertise 1.9 oz if the product is a third heavier.

Received mine today. Opened box and no line clips nor o-rings. Not in accessory bag. How do I go about getting missing parts?

JET61Same here. I’ve emailed their customer service (also because the second section broke on my second time out using it).

Good rod, only issue I had was the plastic build quality of the line clips. They broke trying to fix them on the rod. Other than that all good.

How do folks feel about this kit for a beginner to fly fishing?

manateemilitiaTenkara is a perfect introduction to fly fishing. Casting is super easy- even my 7 year old caught fish the first time he used my Sierra rod. There’s no reel to have to worry about. The simplicity helps focus your attention more on the fish and the presentation than the gear, which can be overwhelming to a beginner getting into traditional fly fishing. You’ll spend more time actually fishing and enjoying the outdoors instead of fiddling with gear. (I speak from my experience with traditional fly fishing.) This kit provides everything you need gear wise to get started. A traditional fly fishing set up at minimum would run you twice as much. Hope that helps.

I have the Sierra rod from Tenkara Rod Co. and I’m very happy with it. I‘m already on board for the mini Teton. Tenkara is a great introduction to fly fishing for those who have always wanted to try it, and is also a great way for fly fisherman to always have a rod with them for those impromptu fishing sessions. Sometimes it’s nice to just get back to basics with the zen-like simplicity of the Tenkara method. (Catching my personal best sunfish on the Sierra rod is bonus). Awesome for kids too. Great opportunity to support one of the few American companies that are making Tenkara gear. Great price on a great rod. Can’t wait to get mine! PS- I’ve used mine from a kayak and it works great.
