https://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/264525 $35.99 (less upto 5% for frequent flyers AND always free s/h on orders over $100). MASSDROP - if you are not selling something out of stock at least TRY to be competitive on prices?!?!? I would consider buying the drop here for about $36-39 (w/free s/h) or so to get one game versus spending $100 online to get free shipping.

Not sure when you looked, but this game has been out of stock at CoolStuffInc for at least a bit over a week. In fact, it’s out of stock everywhere I know of. One person in my group considered himself lucky early last week to find it online for MSRP (plus shipping) from some brick and mortar game store somewhere in the USA. Another has been looking in vain for the last week. As for pointing out other places to buy, that’s fine, but you seemed VERY upset that the price was not competitive. Yet now you say there is basically a $3 difference for a single game purchase. Not sure why $3 deserves a NOT competitive stamp. You sure do seem very angry with MassDrop. As for shipping — Neither MassDrop nor CoolstuffInc can ship a game they do not have, and since the reprints aren’t due for a while,, you really don’t know whether you would get the game faster from them or from here. And that $6 CoolStuffInc shipping might very easily disappear by then. I remember a few years back seeing that only around Christmas time, so I wouldn’t want to guarantee that rate to anybody looking here. And if it does disappear, the rate goes way up making this a much better deal. Anyway, if you know where to find it cheaper than this drop right now, please do share that information with everybody here. Can’t preorder from CoolStuffInc right now. Could try Amazon, they are taking preorders if you don’t mind paying $69 and up delivered. As as I keep saying, the price here is fair.

billofpaNot angry at all... and I look at price. shipping times and likely hood that it'll get delivered (I've had two different Massdrops canceled weeks after the end date - yes, got a refund, but that doesn't help if its something that you were expecting for an event or something). CSI has stock go up and down all the time, I'm pretty sure the "Add to cart" button was the right color and on, but I could have been mistaken. Anyway, I'll concede that +$3 is competitive and hope that these do ship for those that take the plunge. My friend picked up a copy last week at a brick and mortar so I can play well before Jan 2019 so I'm good. For those that are curious about pricing in general: https://www.boardgameprices.com/ although their "In Stock" tags are often not correct. Cheers!

Well, there are a few things to look at here:
  • The MSRP is just under $50, so MassDrop is making the deal look way better than it is.
  • The actual price at the bigger online dealers was around $35.
  • But the online dealers are all out of stock right now.
Now, according to Board & Dice (which merged with NSKN games recently) a reprint is pending, and several of the online dealers say they expect the game back in, but it’s unclear whether those copies are already preordered by people or not, so if this drop will be shipping copies from that next printing (which makes sense), then you might find other, cheaper, copies available around the time this ships, but the price here is rather fair, especially with free shipping. It’s just not the huge percentage discount MassDrop is advertising — it’s about a 10% discount. So if you want to make sure you get a copy, then I’d say sign up here. Me, I bought my game for $50 (basically MSRP) at the Board & Dice booth at PAX Unplugged at the end of November and was happy to do so to not have to wait for the reprint.

Man, the pricing for this game makes no sense around the internet. NSKN is selling above the only MSRP I can find. It appears that Massdrop is making a habit of pre-purchasing a group of reprints before they're out and selling them. The low price I found on the old print was down to $36 for this game. It just seems like there's some out of print inflation going on even though this is being sold for when the game is back in print. Feels real shady.

I wouldn't say that. I would treat them like any other vendor. Consider each offer versus what else is in the marketplace. Some of them drops are very competitive, even great. Others are meh. I have yet to see a terrible deal on a boardgame here, but lots of meh ones. There recent addition of "communities" and the associated category-based communications has been bringing more of the 'meh' to my attention :D So, not a main vendor for me, but a source of the occasional pleasant surprise.

aesthetocystSolid point - but I think the point of creating a separate category was to increase the offering AND SALES of board games, not just highlight a bunch of "meh" offerings. The community at large is going to share and expose the online dealers and help their fellow buyers out, that's where things are now. I happily spend at or close to retail at a brick and mortar to keep them around, but my online dollars go to the most competitive prices, fastest shippers and the best customer service plain and simple.
