Hey everyone,
We wanted to update you on the latest from our distributor, who has been in close discussion with the game's manufacturer.
The short version is this game is on short order everywhere and was printed at a much lower number than expected. We’re going to cancel this order and refund everyone in full rather than drag everyone along with an unknown fulfillment date.
The longer version is below.
For context, it sometimes happens with very popular games that the manufacturer will take initial orders beyond their capacity or they will continue to accept orders even after they have made the bulk order from the factory. Distributors will then accept orders based on the number they’ve been “allocated” from this order from the manufacturer. If they oversell then they get lumped into the next print run and receive their order when that completes manufacturing. However, because the distributors don’t know the exact order numbers by the manufacturer it can be impossible to know how many copies they will actually receive.
Because we are especially prone to getting impacted by our distributors having their order allocated we don’t like to accept preorder numbers above a certain percentage of our distributor’s total order. That way we can fulfill for our group even if they only receive half or even less of their planned shipment.
It seems that this game was hit especially hard however and distributors industry wide have been hit hard on having their orders allocated to a second print run. We’ve talked with some of our other distributors and some say they can have the order fulfilled, but they expect they are going to get their allocation in January.
We would like to express our deepest apologies on these delays in communication, there were events that were outside of our control which we had thought would not derail the drop as they ultimately have. If our distributors can get a 100% confirmation on a stock number than we will work to bring this back, but until then we don’t think it’s reasonable to have people waiting until some unknown date to have their orders fulfilled.

Henry_LAwesome!! And please cancel my other two Massdrops the ball... The Others & Great Zimbabwe. Then please delete my account. These projects along with the Scythe drop makes Massdrop a joke. How do you guys plan to stay in business? Unbelievable

Henry_LYeah, I guess I will just avoid mass drop in the future. I have had the only two things I have ever ordered from this site be cancelled.

dmarchbanksThis was my 2nd order as well. I did get my first, but 50% is not a great record for a retailer. I am not sure if Massdrop gets a 3rd chance or not... I am especially annoyed because I didn't know this was a possibility, much less a systematic thing for massdrop and preorders. If I had I would have just payed the extra $5 and got this from another site to ensure I actually would receive it timely.

Perhaps MassDROP should order "The Vendor" to refund $93/ea. to us, the amount it will now cost us to get this game that "The Vendor's" incompetence kept us from getting at all... or just order OUR games from amazon and ship them to us. No one ever guaranteed you a profit, but you guaranteed us games and took our money. Maybe it's time to ask the FTC to explain business to MassDrop and "The Vendor". >:-(

bobjiwiligersI know the feeling. I just saw these two games pop up and I thought it was a good way to save money. Now I'm kicking myself for not ordering them when they were in stock at other retailers for a tiny bit more. The extra $5 would have been worth it to actually get the product.
