They're using what appears to be a sprintek controller, which is a clone of the trackpoint. IANAL, but the last patent I know of involved negative inertia and has expired as of 10/29/2016 . Although it was patented at the time, they have cloned it perfectly. The only difference I can tell, and I am very precise regarding trackpoints, is that the default sensitivity is almost exactly where I usually set it to, just a bit higher (which is 90-100% sensitivity)
