Bought these full price and they are really excellent for the money. They have strong bass but it's not right to describe them as bass canons (as some have). It's very clean bass, plenty of punch but tight with excellent detail and it doesn't shadow the mids. The level of detail in the bass is really surprising compared to other iems in this price range. For instance I have the iBasso IT01 (not the IT01s - haven't heard that) and that is more V shaped, with more sparkly treble but noticeably less precision in the low end. So sure - these have plenty of bass, but it is not muddy or bloated in any way. These are articulate, well tuned iems that can be really engrossing to listen to. They are also light and very comfortable and I can wear them for hours with no issues.

HwoALanGTitanium is a bit harder to work with so you're paying a premium for the design/milling. I was only able to find one review where the guy seemed to think that the TIs had a bit more bass and the highs were slightly crisper, but then again it could just be that person justifying the extra money they spent. There are tons of reviews of the no. 3 and they all seem to be good. A few reviews are even directly comparing them to the Moondrop Kanas and saying they're better (provided you're a bass head). These appear to be solid IEMs at this price point, unless you get the TI then I'd say there is more to compete with. NOTE: One thing that Drop isn't telling you is that the cable on the TI is different from the standard units. It's upgraded.....whatever that means. Personal Note: Cables only matter up to a point and should always be treated as Snake Oil.

Can these be considered an upgrade from the tin t2?

Hugh_JassI prefer these to KPE. I think the sound is more capable overall. More spacious especially.
Hugh_JassWhile both the No. 3 and the T2 have dynamic drivers, the T2 uses two drivers in a coaxial configuration while it is my understanding that the No. 3 has only a single dynamic driver. I hear more detail in the No. 3 and more highs and deeper, more powerful bass. However, the soundstage of the T2 seems wider than the No. 3. Both are good IEMs but if you haven't yet tried the Tin Audio T2 you need to get a pair. For the $35 that Massdrop recently had them they are an incredible bargain. Not to be missed. I tried the Kanas Pro and did not like them at all. Perhaps I got a defective pair but the Kanas Pro I received has almost no bass at all. Sent them back for a refund.

moondrop kxxs vs. tfz no.3?

koolpixIf you’re only going to own one pair, then probably the KXXS; as you can tune them, by blocking a port or messing with the wax guards. These are more geared for the neutral to warm crowd. For myself, I’m treble sensitive, so my current rotation includes: No. 3 ($85) + Ikko OH1 ($125, currently on the big A). If I’m playing a song with well recorded sub bass, I want to hear it

koolpixI have both although no.3 has a bigger punch the kxxs is customisable with included filters and can get pretty close. Kxxs in my opinion is a very well rounded set and sounds fantastic but not as punchy as no.3 if Bass is your priority

Can anybody justify the additional 155$ for the small titanium backplate? I bought a fully titanium knife for about 120 bucks and it contains about 85 times the amount of titanium as this? Why does this feel so steep?

BigTipperNo way. I’m a huge titanium buff, this is ridiculous. it’s because titanium is so hard to machine it’s not like they’re trying to rip you off it’s just like they only made a small extremely small percentage of titanium headphones on special order and so the price is also extremely special being $150. I love hard plastic headphones. To me headphones are all about comfort durability wise they’re always staying protected either way so I have a hard time justifying caring that they are made out of metal - sacrificing comfort for durability.

BigTipperThey are not trying to rip you off. It's just a 'premium' option. The sound signature is the same so there is no sonic benefit.

Which Queen?
Just got my TFZ No.3 IEMs last week from an Amazon order. Had to pay full price ($109). Oh, well. They're worth it. The fit is decent and the sound is one that doesn't irritate the ears during long music listening sessions. Doesn't have the sharp, well defined impulse attacks that BAs can give you but sometimes you don't want all that dynamic detail and can appreciate a bit more relaxed sound. Not sure why anyone would buy these in the "TI" metal edition for 3x the price, though.

Could you explain the differences between those cables?

Ergomuse0.78mm and 0.75mm are 2 pin cables which should fit TFZ. MMCX are for esrphones with coaxial type, snap lock connectors.

I was thinking of getting this through Amazon, but still not sure, my only problem with the Kanas Pro is it's lack of bass, but I'm not a basshead and these No3 are described almost as bass cannons.

I visited their official store page on Taobao.com. According to Q&A, no sq different was mentioned between two versions by customer service. The Ti version is called Ti with upgraded cable in Chinese market. So I guess $155 is for the cable and Ti material.

At least not the purpose of the design. If the SQ of Ti version is a selling point, the store page and Q&A would readily point it out.

These versus the Tin HiFi T3/4?
markjohnsonii

Feb 15, 2020
b3nd0vahThe TinHiFi T3 is for people who prefer treble over bass. It is very accurate, detailed, but light on bass. The T4 is more well-rounded and can be tuned via EQ or Amp very easy. I prefer the sound signature to the TFZ No.3 or the BLON BL-03. The T2 has two DD's: a 10mm and a 6mm. It is also very tunable via EQ and/or an amp that has a bass switch. They come alive.

markjohnsoniiSad part is the t4 almost does it for me. The treble on the t4 is very well well done, but the iem is definitely off balance a bit. You have to turn up the volume to get good bass response out of the t4 and then it can be a bit intense and still the bass isn't good enough on some tracks (only a few here or there though... it struggles with 90's rap for some reason but performs well on most modern tracks). Spiral dots help the t4... but I still favor the no.3 with the right tips and wire.
