NYalexseriously, that is a lot of loot to spend on an amp with so few reviews out there. There are so many great amps in this price range, I sure hope this one lives up to the hype. It looks awesome but damn, that is a lot for an amp so few people have heard.

DetexIt's a chicken and egg problem, unfortunately. We hope as more units get out into the public, we'll be able to push past that stumbling block, even if slowly.
Thanks for your thoughts!

liamstrainI hear you but it is one hell of a leap of faith you are asking people to take. Put them in the hands of some "dealers" and let people audition them themselves. They look like a quality build but in reality those components can be found on units that are less then the ask here, sure they aren't as pretty but you know what you are getting and there is at least a guarantee and dealer network to go along with it.

DetexI can appreciate that. If money was no object, that would be one way to go - though, honestly I don't think many people still buy from brick and mortar dealers. But I certainly understand where you are coming from - and we certainly appreciate those who have chosen to take this leap with us.
We'll do our level best to ensure it was not misplaced.

NYalexI guess I'm one of those that are "BALLIN!" as I have joined the drop.
There's something to be said about being an early adopter, appreciating simplicity of visual design as well as circuit design, and supporting a novel idea with a great story. And most of the people who are buying this amp aren't looking at Schiit stacks and O2 amp/DAC combos. I mean, I'm feeding mine from a Chord DAVE, and the EMAC is going to power Utopias, HE1000 V2's, MDR-Z1R's, Eikons, and HD800's. At some level of audiophilia, you're willing to accept some risk and the fact that you can't test everything out because almost no one has your exact audio chain.
And it looks frickin' awesome.

drbobbybonesIt does look amazing! I feel like it looks as if it was designed around industrial medical equipment from the 50's! I would be very interested to hear your review once you have one. As for price, it is not terrible if it preforms well, so I really hope it does. I say this as a tube guy with a similar priced headphone rig. So there's that.

drbobbybonesoh i wasn't mocking the buyers. i was actually jealous of the buyers.
i stopped at hd650's.
this is from a guy who started with a sennheisser hd555 just because they were on sale. by mistake i got into amp/dacs and some entry level audiophile headsets.
but at some point i had to put the brakes. I did own a pair of hd700 + schiit valhalla. One thing i noticed, is that it wasn't that much of an upgrade vs hd650 + schiit stack. so i quickly sold off the combo and decided to stay with hd650, and even these weren't that much better than hd598 they replaced. The diminishing returns is what killed it for me.

NYalexI hear ya. Diminishing returns are present in almost every hobby. The price of admission to the next level is almost always exponentially higher than the last. We all have to decide when "good enough" is enough.
That said, the HD700 is kind of like the red-headed stepchild of the Sennheiser family. Most people prefer the HD6x0 series or the HD800 +/- S models. YMMV, but the audio world definitely gets better than the 700. Whether or not it's worth it to you to spend the money for it though is a completely different question.
