I'd say it depends on what you're going to do with it (paint or similar), and whether or not you already have all the components ready for your build. Personally I'm going for this, since I'm still lacking a set of switches that I want to use.
The B stock kits have VERY minor imperfections. I should really change the name to "A- stock" because most places call their trash "B stock". I just cant in good faith sell anything with less than a perfect finish as an A stock. I scrutinize the front of the cases very heavily.
To help decide, however, it comes down to what you want. The B stock cases are colored with a smooth, shiny finish. These un painted units are a beautiful black ABS plastic with a textured finish. I feel that the unpainted units are a bit more flexible in your build; black goes with anything!
At the end of the day though, the choice is yours! I will offer support to any unit purchased here or on my site with the same level of service you come to expect from TKC.
Thanks for the response! Good to know that the "a stock" is shiny compared to this. That might actually be the deciding factor. Still not sure what I'll go with, and honestly might have to wait for next drop lol. Preonic on its way, and I just put together a 60 with Keybelle case. Where does this end?!?!?!?! I guess when I have a TKC 1800...
Follow up question... Do the bstock kit drop down option boxes work? They seem grayed out, and don't seem to change the price when I change the option in that box. I was going to change the plate color, not additional, but change the color. I'm guessing those kits are fixed so to speak, and you can't change the order, but add extra plates / pcbs on?
There must not be many left in stock. They sold pretty fast when this drop when live. We will have more in the summer for the V3 run.
Will that have a new PCB or is it just another run of the painted cases?
There may be some updates to the pcb. It’s already pretty advanced; no need to redesign it.
Can definitely attest to how heavy QC is on the custom boards.
I have an "A Stock" custom TKC1800 that's damn near flawless. Professional company's "A Stock" products are more comparable to TKC's "B Stock" stuff.
That’s a heck of a compliment! Thanks!
Thats right y’all, we don’t play.....
Mine is white. Im out of town at the moment but I'll post a pic when I get back.
Currently patiently awaiting GMK Jamon keycaps.
