Whitefox kit = you have to assemble it yourself?
Possible we would get one pre assembled?
is the kit the same as a pre assembled?
I doubt its prebuilt. Thats the whole point of this. "The soldering hole", which means you have to solder to assemble the keyboard. The kits are the same as pre assembled. One comes with everything built and one comes with all the parts to build it yourself. The question you should have with the whitefox is, are these the same kits that had problems with the plates. There was problems with the last drop. They did send out replacements but it would be important to know. I believe this is old stock on MD from old drops.
thank you for the reply. Is it difficult to assemble the wf? Also if this is old stock with the problem plates will we get replacements ?
I dont thhink its hard but its more about if you know how to solder or not. Thats probably the hardest part of the assemble process. A beginner can solder so read up on how to do it if youve never done it before. I highly doubt they will give us kits with flawed plates. Im hoping they have already went throuh the kits and replaced the plates that were affected. But MD is the only ones who might know this. The one piece of advise i can give is if you do order a kit make sure everything fits and works before MD return policy expires. This way if you do find something wrong with the kit, MD will replace the affected parts.
thank you for the reply. Before i do that i should probably make sure i get my hands on the wf kit before it ends. And i guess we dont know what will come up ? We can just hope its a wf , right?
Im sure they will have the wf. Just depends how many they will have to sell, and the layouts they will have available.
thought there was only one layout ?
Cool ! Had no clue about the different layouts,
But im kind of scared of all the sodering...
Yes you assemble it yourself. IIRC the original drop had an option for them to assemble it for you for an extra price. Not sure if that will be offered here as it doesn't seem fair to people who WANT to build it. But who knows!
i pray for that option this time as well, since where i live it will be a huge hassel to build it myself...
If not and you do manage to snag one there's stores online that offer the service of building it.
such as? note: i live in sweden , prob US only
I wonder if you could bring it to a local PC shop and see if they could build it for you. It really is quite simple but I can understand not wanting to take the chance.
Did you get your pre-assembled kit? There was a good amount of options for it
yes i got the Whitefox - The True Fox - Cherry MX Clear Switches - Assembled
Congrats! Cherry clears are great
