Just got my whitefox, it's pretty good so far. The F and J keycaps are blatantly incorrect though-- the F is super short, and the J is completely the wrong shape and has an off center, light letter print. Still usable, but really not acceptable for a $230 keyboard. Hoping they'll send me replacement caps.

At least you got them all. I got shorted a down arrow key.
If they do send you out an extra set of caps please let me know as I'd love to get a down arrow from you.

Looking at the LED consistency through the caps makes me think I am going to use SIP sockets when I assemble mine.
Do you think the amount of light shining through is related to a difference between caps or is the light output of the LED just different?

I think it's the caps, since they look a little different even without the LEDs on. Honestly I'm just going to turn the LEDs off-- they look really bad with the caps.
I'll also definitely keep you updated about the replacement keycaps, no news so far. I like the keyboard, but you would think with the lower volume this time they wouldn't have all these stupid issues with the keycaps. Maybe these are basically refurbs, but if so you would think they wouldn't charge such a premium.

I obviously contacted MD support as well, but haven't heard back either. Any idea how long it usually takes them to respond?
Definitely let me know what they say to you, but TBH I will be kind of shocked if they give you a full set of replacement caps. They will probably tell you there is nothing they can do about it. Hopefully for both of us they have a damaged kit they couldn't sell and will take the arrow for me and the F&J for you.

Yeah I figure that's probably the best we can hope for. Seems pretty likely they'd have that though, considering the unfulfilled orders others are complaining about.
No idea how long MD usually takes to respond, I've only done one other drop before, and it was very straightforward.

According to Matt3o, they are still shooting for White Fox to drop again by the end of this month so worst case scenario I would think is that they give us replacement keycaps from the next drop.
That would be less than ideal as I'd rather not wait 3 or 4 months to get a full set of caps for my board, but at this point I'm confident that MD will resolve the issue.

Yes, not pleased. I responded asking if they could steal a cap from one of the sets that isn't being sent out. We will see what they say.
If they can't find one though then I'm going to expect more than $5 compensation. Does anyone remember how much cheaper the bare bones option was? I know it was substantially cheaper and the bulk of the difference in price has to be due to the keycaps.

Yeah, I mean it's fair in that the keycaps we are missing probably are worth about $5, but they aren't caps we can buy anywhere, so we'd have to replace all or most of the caps to have a vaguely cohesive keyboard. It's frankly absurd for such an expensive keyboard-- if there were parts missing from the keyboards they had in stock they should have sold less and consolidated them, or they should have sold them for cheaper.

Yeah that's my argument. $5 per cap is probably what they would go for at retail if you could buy them individually. That's about what pmk charges. However, a set of caps that's missing keys is worth far less than a complete one.
Unfortunately, the White Fox uses a non standard layout too so keys aren't readily available. I'm going to have to go in on another group buy and spend over $100 to get a set of caps and I'm going to have to wait several months to get them since I don't currently have any that will cover a white fox.
Still holding out hope that something can be worked out though. I have a feeling that the initial response was based on an inventory count showing zero and I think that they probably have the cap I need on a board they can't sell.

Yep thats definitely what's going on-- they just got in touch with me and offered $10 (for 2 keys). You're right, it's especially bad for the whitefox since it uses the odd layout, so even getting replacement caps will be a mess...

when I received my R2 white fox, i had duplicate quote keys and no semicolon. it took about a month, but they sent me the missing semicolon key. so if anyone is missing a single/double quote key, send me a pm on reddit, /u/chemten, i have an extra. :)

That's when they had a bunch of extras to pull from. Unfortunately they just sold all the extras. I'm hoping they can dig up something like an non sellable kit they have sitting around.

i would be in for buying another without the keycaps. i actually don't care for them in the first place. heck, i'd buy a pcb and plate by itself.
