With the Core P90 Tempered-Glass Edition mid-tower chassis, Thermaltake is taking open-frame chassis’ to new heights. On this beauty, the case structure is split into three compartments for the graphics card, PSU, and other cooling components Read More
Love to see what people do with this. I just got an Enthoo Evolv X and love it. Plenty of room, nice glass and steal exterior, but extremely big and heavy (like the one here). It would be cool to check out pics of this P90 in user builds if anyone has any.
Not sure if it's amazing or the bar went so far to confusing that it became amazing. Still trying to figure out if I like it or not but it definitely mesmerizes me.
I’m looking forward to building in this “case.” I’m searching around for a loop to put in it. Wanna get it just right. Even thinking about wall mounting it. 😃
This is one heck of a case. For those concerned about dust, I have the Thermaltake Core P3 and I honestly don't have any issues with dust. That being said, I use a 360mm AIO instead of a air-cooled heatsink for my CPU. There isn't much for dust to get caught in.
Cases like this are as silent as your fans. Get crappy, loud fans and you'll have a crappy, loud computer. Fans like Noctua or BeQuiet make open air cases quite the hush puppies. My overhead fan makes significantly more noise than anything else, including my GPU when playing games. The biggest inconvenience are the fingerprints, but that's always a given with tempered glass or even acrylic.
An open loop system is something that's going to cost more in time and effort, especially once you get it in and then realize you need to get to something it may be blocking. I don't disagree with you on the possible effectiveness, but that also depends on how it's designed. Unless you really need it, I would still suggest an air cooler, but those are 2 sides of a camp that people just tend to sit on. Do you find yours to be quieter than a strictly air cooled solution? It would be neat to see a picture.
psicloneYes air cooling is definitely easier and cheaper.
As far as sound goes, in my experience the big difference is with the GPU. When you throw a block on it and stress it, it's a completely different world. Especially if you have a blower card. Fortunately blowers seem to be going the way of the Dodo. I didn't notice the change from an air cooled CPU as much. Admittedly that might be just because I find the GPU that annoying.
I don't have any pictures. It was just a basic CPU, GPU, and pump/res with a 360 rad and Tygon tubing. When I upgraded last year I transplanted it into my dad's PC. It made him happy but it has taken me a lot longer to acquire the bits n pieces to replace it than I expected.
