Quick turn around on these! Just received mine yesterday. Tested them out straight from my PC and they sound great thus far. Definitely comfortable and light weight. I have a tragus piercing so in ears don't play nice and my sennheiser over ears would cause some discomfort after a while. Surprisingly these did not cause any discomfort at all after the couple of hours I tried them. Only negative, which is super minor, is that there were a couple small marks on the wood. A little scratch and then a scuff. They are really small and I will probably put worse on them over time but kind of stifled that new shoe feeling if you will. I will follow up after some more listening time but they were very clear from my initial listening.
SOULSIKGlad you were able to overcome your negative expectations! "Expectations" are the reviewers enemy. They can unfairly bias a review in either diredtion!
Looking at these vs the m50x or other sub $200 pair, Any opinions? I don't need perfect reproduction but I like accuracy. Will be used for an open office environment so low leakage and comfort are priority. Thanks!
mugglesThanks! I actually picked these up Just before the drop ended. Now I am looking out for a low cost amp just to round out the setup, can't wait to try them out.
As mentioned before, this case could be found on Ebay for $5-6 from US sellers. It's a Beats case, so I colored in the logo on the top with a perm marker
Even though these are on ear, they isolate very well. They also do not leak sound, which is a benefit in many situations if outside the house. I have been amazed at the sound, comfort, and build quality. Easily worth the money just for the sound, but build quality is very high, and so is long term comfort. I have used them mostly at home, but also some for traveling. I find them very good when on an airplane due to their smaller size and isolation qualities. If I am traveling overseas then I will take the Bose noise cancelling, but for domestic, even if just in a hotel room, or outside on a park bench, these are great. Full disclosure, I always use an amp with my portable setup, so keep that in mind when reading my reviews.
I believe the drivers are exactly the same. The description for the On1 echoes those same words. "It has an enhanced 40mm speaker driver with upgraded acoustics for more accurate sound reproduction and a larger sound stage. "
They most likely are speaking in comparison to their own IEMs.
The tolerances between the left and right channels have been tighten as we always areasy able to do when we continue to use the same driver so the difference is that there actually are less differences between the left and right ear sound. The on1 varied a bit with woods and so will this model. We use similar looking wood but we cannot always find the fsc certified wood of the exact species. This run we have used a lot of fsc certified rosewood before we used sapelextensively. The grain is slightly different but I think the wood on this on2 looks much more beautiful but the sound is pretty similar with the wood type.
FullFighterIMO, almost anything is better than the M50x. The On2 is way better. HOWEVER, if you like the boomy overbearing bass of the M50x, then you may not like the more realistic bass of the On2.
so i have some Fostex TH-X00's (mahagony)...do these sound somewhat similar in terms of warmth and clarity to the fostex? i'm basically looking for a portable, closed pair of TH-X00's that have similar sound, but are closed heaphones with a removable cable (or atleast a cable of reasonable length with a 3.5mm connector, unlike the massive cable and connector on the fostex).
please help ;-; ever since i started using the fostex i can't seem to accept other headphones, they all sound veiled and muddy (audio technica's ath-m50x is in the list of rejected headphones).
Brainwaves HM5 pads. Amazon sells them. Huge upgrade over the stock. Super comfortable and it changes the sound. Read the reviews and you'll get a good idea of them. Very popular pad for the 50X.
