This is Ground Pencil Pod

New from Los Angeles–based leather goods company This is Ground, the Pencil Pod is made to protect your main writing tool when you’re on the go—whether it’s a pencil, pen, Apple Pencil, or another kind of stylus. The zippered case is made of high-quality leather that’s been vegetable-tanned in Tuscany and comes with a matching Pencil Jack, which you can slip onto your slimmer writing instrument to add a comfortable grip and keep it from rolling off the desk. At 7.75 by 1.4 inches, the Pod can accommodate a pair of pencils or small-diameter fountain pens, but only one larger pen.

This is Ground’s mission is simple: Create minimalist, easy-to-carry tools that allow people to be more creative and productive every day. All products are designed and prototyped in the company’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles using leather sourced in Tuscany. The leather’s character comes to life during the wash-and-dry phase, and it’s then pressed for smoothness and dyed with vegetable tannins to achieve its signature colors. Enriched with cow fat for scratch protection and spray-finished for a soft hand, it promises to age well and develop a unique patina over time.
