Inspired by the tough-as-nails miners in Weinbrenner Shoe Company’s native Wisconsin, the Thorogood 1892 Dodgeville unlined boots are well suited for any occasion that calls for comfort, durability, and style. The boots are Goodyear welted, allowing them to be resoled ad infinitum, and feature Horween Cavalier Chromexcel leather sourced from one of America’s oldest tanneries Read More
Anyone wondering about the sizing, I usually wear something between a 12 and 13, so I opted with the 12. I probably could have even gone down a half size, these do seem to fit large. That said, these are great so far and I'm looking to wear them some more when it gets cooler outside.
Well, it's been 2 weeks with these boots and here's a little blurb about them.
The fit:
I usually wear 11.5 in sneakers, and have sized down half on all of my boots. I have a few chukkas (Clark's and the AEx MD chukkas) that I've sized this way. These are in that ballpark. Toe box is roomy and they give the impression that they are slightly larger because of this. Wearing them with thicker socks help a bunch but overall I feel, for myself, half size down is perfect regardless of type of sock used.
Comfort:
These are amazing, the leather is so soft. Virtually no break in period for me. I've worn them for 12hrs straight and no discomfort whatsoever. The insole is super soft and in my opinion provides awesome support. The lacing is great. You're able to really tighten them up to the tightness of a glove and still the leather is supple and soft enough to be utterly comfortable.
The look/durability:
They look great! Simple as that. 2 weeks isnt very long but I can tell it's a durable boot. The leather scuffs up easy and picks up creases fast and I find that fine. Actually that may be my favorite thing about the boot. They develop character fast and look rugged. If you want a boot that looks pristine then only wear these once in a blue moon; keep them on the shelf. If you want an outdoorsy/rugged lookin boot wear them.
Overall I love my boots entirely.
Massdrop/Thorogood: I find it strange that neither Thorogood or Massdrop has any interest in clarifying sizing to sell more and have better chances of happy customers.
Forum members: Thanks for the size comments from a few people who have owned these.
Does anyone that owns these know if they are 100% leather in and out. The reason I ask is while searching for sizing details I found a picture of the inside of the boot. What raised concern is it was stamped "Genuine Leather Uppers some Man Made Material" so sounds like maybe there is some non leather somewhere? Maybe they mean just the sole?
bayareakirkI would order down a half size. I ordered these boots from another place, and they run big, for sure. I had to return them becasue they were so big.
Pacman2huckberry is $3 more but free shipping so technically cheaper but huckberry has hardly any sizes available. I'd say this drop is better for most.
Can anyone comment on the fit. I did a search on Google and some sites say fits true to size, some say size down half, others say size down full. Since these cannot be returned for fit any help is appreciated.
Just received my second pair. I've got to say these are some of the best boots I've ever owned, and I have had a shit load. I've had the first pair for a couple of months, and they are breaking in soooo nicely. Thanks for the hook up.
