Featuring natural Chromexcel leather from Horween, one of America’s oldest tanneries, these Thorogood 1892 boots are well suited for any occasion that calls for comfort, durability, and style. They draw inspiration from folks who spend long days on their feet Read More
Thorogood rules.
I always replace the laces.
The yellow and black removable innersoles are the best.
I may dye the sidewalls of the ivory colored soles indigo blue.
Thorogood shoes easily break in just 2-3 wearings, Red Wing takes a month or more and kill your feet while breaking in.
My Mock toes and Roofers:
I just received mine, but I noticed that the i nsoles are plain black... but the description specifie that the insoles must be “Removable Dual Density Ultimate Shock Absorption insole” and those insoles are the ones with yellow cushion at the bottom.... anyone with the same problem?
dunkeljoanitoThe yellow ones are best.
My Thorogood roofers came with the yellow ones, my Thorogood Mock toe came with the black ones.
I only use the yellow ones, they are the most comfortable.
I got the email about this drop at 3:25pm yesterday. It said the drop ends in "a day". I go to the drop this morning to purchase, and the drop has already ended. I thought I'd have at least "a day" from the time of the email?
Any opinions on these versus Red Wing Iron Rangers? Quality? Comfort? Durability? Purpose is as a daily casual boot, not for work. $199 is the same price Iron Ranger seconds are available for.
MistertazVery similar. I think Thorogood offers slightly more for the money. Pick the one you like the most. Both very good quality for this price point and if taken care of should last through a few re-soles.
360* welt 1892 vs 270* IR (although you may prefer aesthetics of 270)
1892 sole has much more traction and versatility
IR seconds cost same as 1892 firsts here.
Details that are personal preference:
IR = toe cap Beloit = no toe cap
1892 = more pronounced stitching
IR = brighter more silver looking eyelets and speed laces (this one bugs me the most about IRs)
1892 = has some branding on outside of boot (not visible on Beloit unless pants rolled above the boot)
and finally, alot more Iron Rangers walking around then Thorogoods.
I purchased two pairs of Thorogood's last month on Amazon.
Break in is only a few days to about a week and not as painful or expensive as Red Wing.
100% Union Made In The U.S.A.
I prefer the wedge sole to the "step heel" as is much more comfortable and for me better for my feet.
I purchased a 'Roofer' black - 814-6233 with their newer MaxWear™ Wedge cream colored sole and a 6" Black Walnut Moc Toe - 814-4266. their newer 'MaxWear™ Wedge' sole in black, (which last longer than Red Wings)
Couldn't be happier, both under $180.00.
Changed the laces and bought a can of Hubards Shoe Grease.
