Three Rivers Mfg. C400Ti Pen by Matt Martin

Aesthetically, the Three Rivers C400Ti pen by Matthew Martin is reminiscent of the ocean, and it writes just as smooth as a wave breaks. Made from titanium, it’s tough enough to stand up to daily wear and tear, and it’s heavy enough—at 1.2 ounces—to provide a solid feel in the hand. The click mechanism uses German-made ball bearings to deploy the tip, while the slightly fatter section features textured ridges for grip. Growing up surrounded by metalwork, Matthew Martin—son of knifemaker RJ Martin—was inspired at a young age to take up the trade. After enrolling in a CAD/CAM technologies class as a freshman in high school, he officially got the bug to start creating. Thanks to his teacher’s recognition of his skillset, Martin was entered into the 2012 CNC Turning Competition of Massachusetts, where he took second place. He’s never looked back, creating custom writing instruments with his father out of their two-car garage in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
