I used a 3/16" twist drill bit to test my keys this morning, prior to committing: 3 passed without qualification, 1 failed and 2 are close calls.
Of the close calls, both fit the spiral end of the drill bit, basically riding the grooves, but not the blunt end. The most important is a nearly rectangular headed mul-t-lock key, and the lesser is a kryptonite bike lock key with a thin, oval head. Does anyone have experience with either of these key types in combination with the TiKeY? I'd like to know if I will need to file the plastic down for a comfortable fit.
The fail key belongs to a tiny, "my first diary"-esque padlock on our building's suggestion box. I'll probably just get a new padlock as long as my other keys work well with the system.
Leo037I just put a caliper on the screws here, and they are .1965" - 3/16" (.1875") is the size I buy them, but they are a hair bigger. Most people do file the hole, as it's easier than drilling (unless you have a vise) I've never seen a key that wouldn't fit with some minor hole enlarging. (Including car keys) I can even get you more washers (or spacers that I use in the TiPiK set) if you need it. But there is a lanyard loop with each one, so you can add anything to that with a keyring. My wife has her car remote on the lanyard loop.

Tactical_KeychainsThank you for the quick reply, I'll definitely plan to file a larger hole in both keys.
