Does this tick as loudly as some of the cheaper Timex watches? I've largely given up on Timex because the movement is so loud. It's like having The Telltale Heart on your nightstand.
It is indeed fabric (probably nylon, though I'm uncertain) atop leather. Pretty poor quality, but easily replaced. What cannot be replaced, however, is the quality of the case/movement construction. I had a similar Timex Expedition that, in the course of wearing it for only a few weeks, the crown fell out of (no physical damage, in fact I didn't even notice it at the time it occurred). I was surprised to discover that they were willing to repair/replace free of charge, so I sent it to them and received a new watch and a bill for the service (which will never be paid, I have a voice recording that confirms that they agreed to repair/replace for free because it was within the warranty period). I immediately sold the replacement and vowed to never purchase another Timex product of any kind. You might get lucky and never have a similar experience, but I wouldn't take the chance...you have been warned.
