Just a note to back up Christopher J... I've got a number of inexpensive quartz watches that I use when traveling to some parts of the world (and some parts of New York City). Every one of them has, in the manual, directions on how to get hands aligned properly, or in sync with a digital window. Annoying, but common. I've had decent luck with Timex watches. I've killed a couple - like falling from a fourth floor window onto pavement, getting dumped off a boat in salt water and clearly when I had the battery replaced they did NOT replace the seals properly - but have only had one die on its own, and that was after a long time and a lot of abuse.
