GBNThere is a known issue with the Tin P1 where current can flow outside of the housing with some units. This has never been addressed by Tin and I was sitting at my desk one day and had to yank them out of my ears as they electrocuted me bad enough to make me jump and pull them out. This has been tested over and over even changing sources and the problem is still there. At any price point this shouldn't be a worry let alone $160 new.

DrueWow, this is really news. I did not know this. I was seriously considering buying it. In fact, I have never heard this happen with any earphones/HP. I have heard stories of HP drivers getting screwed due to faulty amps, and sudden increases in volume, etc. But this is crazy. Did they recall a batch or something? Even one person encountering it is severe. Till now, I had only heard 'not enough base' complaints.
I really hope you did not face it again with P1.
Update - I read this statement from another user who got it replaced.
" .. The new set does not have the same shock problem (I tested using the standard headphone out on the Emotiva BasX A-100 and it works great now..."
So, it is something that can be Quality Controlled. One Tin company rep was defending the 'shock' issue. Not a good sign, though I wonder if the amps have any responsibility to give clear cut guidelines. I remember a heated discussion about an amp firing up HPs too much (forgot the context. I will search for that).
Pls excuse the long rant. I was taken aback reading your message :).

pradeep-sYeah of course I don't have the heart to sell them to someone because of the issue. After getting more IEMs I didn't like them as much as I thought I did. They really don't have any bass and I'm not even using that in the term for electronic music even bass guitars and drums sound really flat. I think the BLON 03 is a really fantastic place for people to start and I used those for a year. They are more than enough and it's only worth going beyond if you are "serious" about the hobby. I also hear there is a grill mod to make them sound less muddy which I think was the only issue I had with them for $26.

DrueIt’s called static electricity. It’s not from ‘current flowing outside the housing’...try grounding yourself next time and discharging static you’re building up from whatever you’re wearing or been walking on.

Rowdy2026That isn't static electricity. It is a constant flow of current, it is not a build up of charge and a quick zap. It was a constant flow that shocks. This is a known issue with the P1's. Being grounded made it even worse, because then the current had a route to flow and it hurt more rather than just building charge on my body.
