I own the Maratac split pea lighter. Basically the same as this only smaller. I have it in SS. I agree with J.E.L. It's nearly impossible to light for what I believe are mostly the reasons he mentions. I even reached out and found they recomment the Zippo replacement wicks, tried that and not happening. I cannot get it to light more than 1 out of 30 tries I'd estimate. It's off my keychain obviously and honestly never found a use even when it was on. My bug out bag has ever reliable Bics and they're good for hundreds of flames each even if they're lacking completely in gadget factor. My suggestion: if you go with one of these, get a stupid cheap one to start, carry it, decide if it's useful and then upgrade later. I'm dubious of the insert as I agree the wick is constricted and I just cannot ever get it to light.
