Crinacle needs to do a review on some Tonekings.
He "never gives anything a chance" but you don't want to give him a chance at it?
Do you have a precise example to show? I don't think anyone has as much experience as him with such a variety of IEM's and is ready to post his thoughts and measurements online. If you don't like him because only more expensive headphones rate better, well the contrary would have been quite surprising.
Thanks for the informative remarks! They really clear up the mud compared to those wacky grading systems LOL. Saw your comments on the Tonekings above and they are really helpful. Probably the definitive standard for how to get the best out of them. That's really useful for the hobby and I'm sure will guide others like me too :D
Can you please link me to the comment where he said exactly that? I don’t think in my history of following Crin that has ever happened
Katana’s not that much competent of an IEM too having tried one
This to me seems more like character assassination than actually a comment. Plus earphones are actually fair bit easier to measure and get in line with the AES standards
I’m an engineer from a different trade than audio but I know sound science and sensibility when i see one
This to me feels like an ad hominem cos you were hurt that he doesn’t rate what you like an S+
It is one thing liking a product or two. I happen to quite like the Encores myself and can see why the Katana can appeal to some
Crin has his own views and standpoints and at least from the earlier comments that you’ve made, it seems more than apparent to me that you just dislike the person and was trying to badmouth him
I am all in for disagreements. I’ve had my fair share of disagreements with Crin and for a while Flinkenick as well. It is part of the nature of the hobby as you’ve said so yourself. But it is one thing to blatantly disrespect and badmouth a fellow enthusiast who happens to have a Head-Fi thread
Unlike you, I've actually met Crinacle, and he does take the time to listen to the gear he's talking about. He doesn't rate gear solely based on measurements. He spent nearly an hour listening to my Kinera Idun, after taking the measurement. He also states quite clearly that his ratings are merely a guide, and should not be taken as definitive statements.
Also could you clarify what you mean by "relies on demo units listened to within a store" ?
