Optical/Coax output is listed as 44.1–192 kHz/16–24 bit. Does anyone know what (if anything) is output when the USB input is at a higher frequency or bit size? Is the unit capable of down-sampling?
And what about DSD input, can that be output to Optical/Coax? Is DSD even supported over SPDIF?
Do you have any material that's higher than 192/24??? 192/24 is the physical limitation of SPDIF, no devices will accept higher than that. DSD works well over SPDIF, look up DoP. I expect this DAC to be able to forward DoP out to SPDIF. At the same time I doubt it will convert DSD native to DoP.
I was really just curious about how it handles input signals that can't simply be re-directed to the SPDIF outputs. Thanks for the mention of DoP, I don't have any particular interest in DSD and wasn't aware of it before.
I've since noticed that on Topping's D10 product page it says "D10 could only output 16-24bit/44.1-192kHz PCM signal when serve as USB interface." So you're probably right, it will likely forward DoP but won't output anything when fed a native DSD signal. Probably won't output anything if fed a 32bit or 384kHz PCM signal either.
