I recently bought a SMSL sApII and hooked up the line-in between my PC's motherboard and its line-in. My Topping Vx1 finally kicked the bucket recently and I want to have good audio quality again. Question is do these separate DACs really make a sound quality difference? I'd wager the analog outputs are cleaner than from my PC's motherboard, which is the main advantage. Little bit hesitant because of the warranty situation, though.

matt_961This is a great DAC at an excellent price. On board sound has varying levels of quality but every one I've heard paled in comparison to an external DAC with a good USB interface. There are fairly significant differences in sound quality between USB interfaces in my experience and this DAC has one of the best. The DAC chip used and its implementation also seams very good. I would buy this if I were you because there isn't anything better at this price point.
