Just a quick question - I'm considering this to feed my active speakers, but will I be able to control the output volume using the windows volume slider like my Audioquest Dragonfly or will it be locked at line level as it is with my Stoner DAC? Playback software is Plexamp, DSD won't be an issue as I've got my Mojo/CIEM rig for that stuff.

Got a reply from a reseller: Yes, you can turn down the volume using the Windows volume control, but it's not utilising the Sabre DAC's internal volume control, so the output won't be bit perfect at anything less than 100% volume. This is why DSD playback goes out the window when you touch the volume slider.

Windows will do volume control for you but if you want to avoid DSP then better to insert an analog control like the Schiit Sys between the DAC and your speakers. Or maybe look at a different DAC, with integrated volume control.
