I can' get this to work. My main computer is a Macbook Pro running OSX High Sierra 10.13.6. The DAC does not appear under Sound Devices, and no matter what I try with restarts, resets of PRAM and SMC seem to make a difference.
When it powers up, three dashes appear in the display, but after a little while it goes into standby and only a small, dimmed dot is visible.
I've also tried on a Win10 computer. Same thing happens, it goes into standby after a little while. I also installed the drivers from Topping, but in the software's control panel, under USB Audio Device, "No device detected".
Try plugging it directly into the computer and not through a hub. Also, swap out your cable for one you know works.
Yeah probably not enough power and need to plug in directly to computer, not via keyboard or hub
Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I had already tried direct connections on both the Macbook and the stationary Windows 10 computer. The USB cord has been swapped with one I use daily, but same thing.
I must say I have gotten excellent service from both Massdrop and Topping in my e-mails, so now a new unit is on its way.
New unit in da house! Plugged in, worked immediately. All good.
