I would like to use this DAC with a MAC on OSX Mojave. Are there instructions somewhere that explains drivers and configuration for a Mac?
Just plug and play. Although you’ll want to change the input bit rate to get the max resolution out of the DAC with the MIDI controller. It’s located in utilities in the applications folder. .
osx don't need any drivers. configuration of (fixed) bitrate can be made in preferences> sound or in audio midi configuration. but if you want automatic adjustment of bitrate (=bitperfect) you have to use other app like VOX, AUDIRVANA PLUS etc. because itunes use the prefixed bitrate. audirvana can be used with itunes integration (library, playlist) or stand alone.
Thank you! I am thinking about making the investment in AUDIRVANA. I will not use iTunes for anything! .. But that's another story...
The information given in the previous replies is not accurate, this DAC don’t support 16bit audio, I have tested it. Could be a driver problem, but no driver is available in MACOS, and their windows driver doesn’t work. I also tried doing a firmware update, turns out you need the driver to do the update.
Hmm .... I have played 16 bit audio through this DAC on Windows 10. I believe I it with the actual D10 drivers first, then I replaced those drivers with the DX3 drivers and played just fine. Foobar and 16 bit MP3 files...
Dude I’m with you on ITunes! It’s the worse piece of Music Software ever Made because of Apple instance on controlling what you do with it!
I envy you though, Windows 10 blows more especially when it comes to XMos for High Res Music. There are MAJOR issues with Drivers. I’m hoping this DAC doesn’t have that problem.
The main thing for this DAC is how well it’s Clock sampling rates. I prefer DSD over PCM both Natively and DOP. I’m hoping this does the job.
