My understanding is that USB supports upto 24bit/44kHz format and drivers are used to handle higher resolutions. If I don't install the drivers will it revert to 24bit/44kHz?
Mine was usable up to 192/24 without drivers on Win10 1809. Seems to be more stable during boot with drivers.
You're using Windows, right? Until last year USB audio 2.0 wasn't natively supported by Windows so anything above 24/96 needed a driver. Shouldn't need one now to play 24/192. However, I still needed to install the driver and update firmware for DSD to work properly.
