View Full Discussion Received my D30 A30 combo today, hooked it up with custom A01 cable from ghentaudio (http://www.ghentaudio.com/part/a01.html)
The moment I put on my headphone, I can hear sounds that wasn't there before, tracks are life and smooth.
Note: Paid $32 CAD in duty and $10 CAD fee on the package.
Mine arrived on Friday last week. This is my first dedicated Amp/DAC stack and even though I haven't had too much of a chance to put it through its paces yet, I'm very happy. Based on a brief side by side comparison with my FiiO E10k using my 250ohm DT770's, I can notice a bit of a change in quality.
My main reason for upgrading from the E10k was to be able to use the one set of headphones for both PC and PS4. For this, the stack has been perfect. The PS4 sounds phenomenal compared to my ATH700x's that were plugged into the controller. I'm looking forward to playing around with the various gain settings to get the right balance, but so far I've played a bunch of hours of Horizon and the game sounds absolutely phenomenal.
My major gripe with the setup has been the length (read: complete lack of) of the supplied cables. The D30's power cable and supplied USB cable were entirely to short to place the unit anywhere other than right next to my PC. Given I am running cables to both my PC and PS4, this meant I needed to move my powerboard to suit and buy a much longer USB cable. That's definitely something to consider, though I'm completely satisfied with the units themselves so far.
Also worth noting, I paid the same $42 at Canada Post to pick up the package.
Are those velcro a necessity? Does it lift up the units with out the velcro?
No, it won't lift up, the cable is short but flexible. I use the velcro so there's less tension on the sockets.
