Does anybody know the physical size of the 5VDC 1Amp jack that powers this DAC? I would like to buy a 5V 1A DC power supply so that I will not need to use an "old phone plug"on the "USB end" of the power cable because "old phone plugs" tend to have annoyingly high pitch whistles coming from them when they are energized. I see jacks on Amazon ranging in size from 5.5X2.1mm up to 5.5X2.5mm for power supplies that meet the 5VDC 1A requirement to power this DAC.
Thank you to anybody that helps out, hoping for a Topping representative; especially if there is any chance of this action voiding any kind of a warranty.
If this is helpful, I plan to use the "optical out" of my chromecast audio [Gen 1] with the Topping D50 DAC.

petkus331You want to grab the 5.5 x 2.5 mm , I'm actually using the one that came with the SMSL M8A DAC a 5VDC 3A. You can go all fancy with something like this one on ebay: "25VA Low Noise Linear Power Supply DC 5V 3A upgrade TOPPING D50 ES9038Q2M DAC"

petkus331I used a Jameco Linear PSU from Amazon. I'd recommend a linear regulated PSU, but I would also recommend getting a higher amp PSU than 1A, which I figured out after doing a lot of research after buying mine and finding out it ran super hot. 1A is what it's rated to supply, but anything can pull slightly more or less current when required for short times, which could put strain on a PSU and cause it to get hot (especially for a linear PSU which tend to run hot already) and potentially create more line noise. I would look for a 5V 2-3A linear regulated PSU, because the amp rating for a PSU is just how much current it CAN supply, but the device draws as much as it actually needs. Devices are designed stay at or around what it's rated for (1A for the D50) but it can need more or less depending on the workload. If you have the ability to supply MORE than what's needed, it can account for minor bursts of higher amp draw better than one that's at the rated spec, and it will run a lot cooler and cleaner (given it has low ripple already).
Edit: Also to clarify, this applies ONLY to current (A). However voltage (V) should ALWAYS match the rated specs.

FrogmeatI notice that power supply has a 2.1 mm socket. A comment above says it should be 2.5 mm for the D50. I'm also reading conflicting reports elsewhere on the net, and Topping doesn't list the spec anywhere I can find. I went ahead and got the one you recommended. If it doesn't fit, I suppose I can return it and order Jameco P/N DDU050100H4660 (same specs as the P/N DDU050100M2270 you bought, but fits 2.5mm) or just get a barrel adapter.

Frogmeat... And if not, then it's just a matter of exchanging the item, so no worries.
