Does this have the rolled off/recessed treble like the d90? I tried the d90 and didn't like it. Considering this as an alternative

How big of a jump is D90 compared to D70?

. . . Are you kidding me, apparently there's a switch on the side where you can switch between 115v/230v and it was set to 230v. I am so relieved to now know its not DOA but so annoyed at how much I went through to try and figure this out only to read "Voltage setting on side panel" in the manual.

Finally....received mine yesterday...with the WRONG cable. Ordered US, got EU. Thankfully I'm a computer geek and have plenty of those spares around. The box was damaged in transit as whoever packed this decided to only wrap the product box in the smallest of bubble wrap. I guess a cardboard box would have cost an extra $5. So Aug 7 vs May 30, crumpled box due to crap packaging and EU cable instead of the ordered US. Not looking good. Will update once I get a chance to set up and test.

I've written to Drop tech support a few times about them missing the ship dates (mine also was in May, which I believe has already been pushed back once previously), and this is their typical response: "I've flagged this to my logistics team and we'll send out a new expected ship date to everyone as soon as we hear back from the vendor. Thank you for your patience." Of course, I've yet to receive any update with a status. My last request was not yet answered. What the heck Drop??? It is now 7-30-20, long past when we were all supposed to get this. Do the right thing and help us out please.

No, I don't think anyone has gotten it yet. My estimated ship date was May 21st. I contacted Drop Support for an update and on June 25 they replied that there was no updates but that apparently there was a label created for my order and that they are "hoping" it would be shipping soon. Very dissapointed in Drop atm, I'm not sure I've ever waiting so long for something that wasn't a pre-order and with zero communication.

What is going on with these? Mine was supposed to ship May 21 and it still hasn't shipped. When I contact support, they won't cancel my order unlike what was stated in the update emails, and my order has been "packed" and waiting to be shipped for the past two weeks now. Let us cancel our orders! I haven't been able to use my newly ordered THX AAA 789 since my old DAC died and would like to buy a replacement that will get here sooner! This seriously sucks, Drop.

I just filed a charge back on my credit card. Didn't want to have to do that, but the lack of any real update / signs of progress on this order left me with little choice. I don't want to wait an additional 6+ weeks for another "automated delay email."

I have a Schiit Jotunheim as my main headphone amp, but I’m looking to upgrade to a balanced DAC to pair with it. Should I get the topping D70 bluetooth or the DX7 Pro? They are both on sale right now. Obviously the DX7 Pro has a amp built in as well, which I could maybe just use as an all in one in the future if I sell my Jotunheim. But I’m curious if their is a big difference DAC wise between the two. Different chips, but is it noticeable or worth the extra $100 or so for the upgrade to the DX7 Pro? Thanks!

Get the 789 instead and use the Jotunheim as balanced input.

Can you please help me decide b/w the regular and BT version. I would use it for my desktop setup. DAC to PC via USB. Vanatoo T0s to DAC via optical, THX AAA 789 to DAC via balanced. So for the most part the source would be my PC. Where would BT version give me freedom? Or $50 not worth it just because?

I edited my previous comment, but I wanted to make a new post. After comparison, the d70 is less resolving than the sdac. It sounds as though Topping was so intent on making sure it wasn't harsh, they gimped the akm 4497 and applied a film over the sound. The sdac is not always easy on the ears, but it is honest. With the sdac, listening to Heifetz with the orchestra, it sounds like I'm at the hall. When I listen with the D70, I hear a plastic rendition of the recording, like the plastic covers old grandmother's use over their couches. Transients are slower and don't quite snap on the d70, dynamics are compressed slightly as well Sdac bass response is muddy and imagining is not as pinpoint as the d70. However, I'm very disappointed that even in this price range Topping does not present a dac more capable on all fronts than the $80 sdac. I originally wanted the find a dac to push the CTH to a new level, thankfully the sdac is built in. It seems buying Chinese dacs are more about the features and less about the sound (Su-8 and D70). I suggest passing on this one and looking at any other country to built an actual hi-fi dac.
