phoenixsongIt's listed as an input but he's probably referring to the specs, where there's no supported bitrate. He's asking what it's for, but it's not really clear by the item's description.
postwarscarsExactly...I found the specs webpage for the Topping D70. It looks like it's compatible with HDMI..I learned something today.
If this unit accepts the (stereo signal) HDMI output from a universal DVD or Bluray player that's a very nice feature. I have several SACDS...

NickEYeah, I was pretty sure that was the case but did not want to state something incorrectly. If it works for PC that'd be an interresting alternative to USB too.
verifonixThanks for the information. So it's a connector that resembles HDMI but not compatible with the output of an universal SACD/DVD-Audio player. Do you know what type of device contains an I2S output? Sorry for all the rookie questions. I've done searches but all I see is some posts for PS Audio.
NickEI did research after all of this. It can use an HDMI cable, but it is not an HDMI signal. You basically need a transport to use it, so a USB to I2S is needed for a PC, for instance. It's supposedly a more direct audio signal (basically a form of COAX, albeit better), but with USB jitter having improved it seems redundant unless you have a product with that specific output (though I could be wrong here, so someone correct me if I am).
