It’s not a stretch to call the Topping D90SE a do-everything DAC. This small desktop unit offers multiple channels out to your amp, letting you choose a combination of XLR and RCA—and giving you the ability to swap between the two using the included remote. For inputs, you can choose from six options: AES, USB, digital optical, coaxial, IIS, and even Bluetooth. That Bluetooth connectivity is also bolstered by less lossy codecs including LDAC, AAC, and even Qualcomm’s aptX and aptX HD. The whole unit is centered on the CSR8675 chipset, but bypasses this chip and uses the ES9038PRO chip when transmitting over Bluetooth for optimized wireless performance. All channels are balanced and provide 32-bit audio to deliver rich resolution no matter how you’re transmitting. Plus, the XMOS 16-core XU216 microcontroller does the work of converting digital audio with as little jitter as possible.
