modi3/atom combo will beat it but at 25 more greens. Anyway. Good device. Just weaker amp section. And I need all the amp I can get. audioscience has the same conclusion.

JDS labs Atom being as powerful as the THX AAA in single-ended (non-balanced) is ridiculous competition indeed :D

I don't think the Modi 3 beats the DAC section in this unit. The Atom though, is nice. Still, for an AIO with the insane input options this has it stands on its own.
Also, the Atom does not match the 789 in SE power output. It is in a completely different class.

I thought it was very close in SE, with the THX being much more powerful in balanced output.

they use the same DAC chip - modi3 and dx3-pro. the same dac chip. let that sink in.

The dx3pro uses two 4493 versus one 4490 on the modi3, implementation matters most of course but well, there's two next-gen AKM chips in there... let that sink in.
