I purchased Sennheiser hd6xx and a balanced cable. For 500 or under I have this option or jotunheim with built in dac for full balanced setup. What do you all suggest? I'm newish to audiophile world and could use a recommendation! I won't be upgrading for along while after this purchase. Thanks! I'll be using USB to PC with a wyrd in-between.
Can’t go wrong with the jotunheim I say. I love schiit audio as a great company with great products they stand behind. Also it has more power and lower output impedance, so it’ll drive just about everything.
I was leaning that way. Also after seeing people comment on the output impedence, doesn't look like it'll affect my hd6xx but 32 ohm headphones I may get later this wouldn't be optimal. I was just a tad hopeful with the cheaper cost here. But hey you get what you pay for. Seems schiit support is better from what I read.
Thanks for your input!
If you want to play DSD files, Schiit is not an option.
The liquid carbon has no output specs for 300 ohm anyone know what it is?
I couldn't find it either.
32Ohm headphones work fine for the most part, but you can get a cheap o2Amp if you have headphones that need specifically a lower output impedance.
I was mainly looking for power rating in mw at 300 ohm
For the DX7S? Its 78mw SE and 273mw balanced. thats enough to drive basically any headphone past 90db SPL
Dx7s is 546mw at 300ohm balanced and 146mw SE. You were looking at THD.
I was asking about the liquid carbon MW specs at 30 ohms
This is a new product that Massdrop is launching. At first they drop the sdac, then the amp alone in a new chassis, then they do an hybrid version of the amp, and now they introduce a dac/amp in the same chassis. So, we dont know much because it is new, but lets assume that it is just under the Jotunheim in raw power, maybe similar to the Topping DX7. But the HD650/6XX have a max power input of 0.5W... at 300ohms of course. So, power shoudln't be an issue.
