Also fairly new to the whole balanced amp/dac thing. How would this compare to the massdrop sdac + lcx thats currently being dropped for the same price. Would be primarily using with Focal Clears (55ohms) .
I'd also would like to know this. I am in the lcx + sdac drop but would be willing to switch. The lcx + sdac can't do hi-res audio so I'd have to use my Mojo as a dac, but this one should remove that need.
Apparently, this is the latest model that just got announced 2 months ago. No reviews yet.
with the specs this thing is a beast dac wise. The amp is good for alot of things, 80 ohms SE and 160 ohms plus balanced. Not to say you cant drive lower impedance than that just fine, like some of the posts mentioned below it depends on the specific cans/iems themselves. I'm not expert so i couldnt advise how the map portion would work out for you. The dac setup here, you literaly cant bit it without spending over a grand.
I've been pondering over this or the jotunheim myself for my hd650s. Tough choices we have lol.
Yes but the previous model has been reviewed on audiosciencereview and its measurements were right in line with their claims.
Showing that they back up their products with the specs they claim.
If this measures as well as its specs nothing under $1000 I think will be able to touch it.
With the lower impedance cans it will really depend on which headphones you are using and how affected they are by output impedance. Some cans are affected more than others and some cans sound worse because of this, but worse case scenario is that you could pick up an o2Amp and use that in the future or literally any other amp with a lower output impedance if it really makes a difference to you.
For a Focal Clear, the LCX would be a better matched amp. This amp is more for those who have a HD6XX and want to add some excitement to the sound.
